About Mark Williams

Mark was born in Ohio, the middle of 5 sons of a fundamentalist minister, who decided to move the family to Johannesburg, South Africa, when he was 10 years old. They bounced back and forth until he was 18 years old, when he entered college in Florida.

Mark is sad that his spiritual background was so entwined with the Lost Cause Movement, a social southern movement that began as a defense of slavery and the depriving of civil rights from black people.

On his journey out of the sect he grew up in, he studied counseling, working on understanding the dysfunctional family, and differentiation of each person's identity.

Attachment styles of mother and infant and how those roles are expressed in adulthood have fascinated Mark for years.

Each person is normal for the experiences they have been through.

The Role of Anger:

Anger is good information: When I am angry I know that at least one of my Needs is not being met.

Marshall Rosenberg proposed that we each have Needs that are important. Our anxiety rises when we don't get our needs met:
